AP Dhillon's Guitar Smashing at Coachella Draws Backlash from Fans

By News   Desk

Punjabi singer AP Dhillon's recent performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, one of the biggest music festivals in the world, was overshadowed by a controversial moment on stage - the singer broke his guitar, drawing criticism from a section of social media users.

Following the incident, Dhillon took to Instagram to justify his action, posting a series of candid pictures from his Coachella gig, along with the caption, "The media is controlled and I'm out of control."

However, this post only invited more trolling from fans, who accused the singer of disrespecting his musical instrument and the art of music.

One user commented, "But Sidhu Moosewala would have also respected the musical instruments, being an artist, if he was here to see this. So before making loose statements like 'media is controlled', you better learn some good manners and values, buddy. God bless."

Another fan wrote, "What a cringe caption lol," while a third commented, "You're justifying wrong things brother. Are you even remembering your culture of how we treat musical instruments? That guitar was the one you held it for your show and it produced the vibration you wanted. After that destroying it was the coolest thing? This is an act of a fool. A true musician loves his instruments more than music. Show some respect, accept it and apologise to yourself, not to us. All we can see is your graph going down. If music gave you the fame, at least learn to respect it."

During his Coachella performance, Dhillon, along with songwriter-rapper Shinda Kahlon, paid tribute to the late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, with the text "Justice for Sidhu Moosewala" displayed on the screen in the background as they performed their hit track "Brown Munde."

The Indian-origin Canadian singer, known for chartbusters like "Excuses," "Summer High," and "Dil Nu," among others, had a docu-series titled "AP Dhillon: First Of A Kind" premiere on Prime Video last August.
